McLean Architects have completed a new three storey building for NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde to provide a physical link between the existing Health Centre and Clinic facilities located at Elder Park in Govan.
The new building provides a central entrance point to both existing facilities whilst also providing additional staff and clinical facilities in a ‘one stop shop’ for mental health patients on the south side of Glasgow.
Situated on a very tight site opposite Elder Park, McLean Architects designed the building to maximize the retention of a significant part of the existing garden on the site which has been re-developed sensitively as a sensory garden for patients and staff to enjoy alike.
Large areas of glass at the upper levels and a terrace area at first floor level of the new building address Elder Park opposite and provide high levels of natural light to the meeting rooms and social spaces.
