Our private clients for this project were looking for a contemporary and sustainable new dwelling house in a rural setting on land already owned.
The project, originally beset with planning restrictions was granted permission on the basis of the house being sited on the ‘footprint’ of earlier farm buildings, and with an aesthetic which harks back to a relevant agricultural language whilst still producing a build for today in hard wearing and low maintenance materials.
The linear plan, whilst efficient, carefully provides flexible open space with rooms at ground level featuring full height glazed screens in order to optimise light in these principal spaces and maximise the breath-taking views to the south over the open countryside.
